Sarah Dunsmore from Crossfit Local will be leading the workout today. She has participated in the Crossfit games and has a stellar record with a Fran time of 2:57. I think we can greatly benefit from her expertise, and she'll also talk about the new affiliate in Chapel Hill. The new affiliate is also a perfect place to take your workouts to the "next level." Hope to see you guys out there.

3rd Annual Maple View Challenge

DATE CHANGE: Saturday, April 24th
Nourish international is hosting the 3rd annual Maple View Challenge again this year on Saturday, April 24th at 11AM. As usual, it is 2500 meters, one pint of Maple View ice cream and 2500 meters back, so 3.1 miles of running, walking, or whatever combination of the two you like. This year, they are encouraging campus group to form “centipedes”, where runners tie themselves together and complete the race as a team. Obviously,they'd love for anyone in CrossFit to run the race or even better, form a centipede for a little bit of an unorthodox WOD.
Also, there are prizes! They have Aveda gift certificates, sky-diving tickets, a night of camping equipment from Townsend and Bertram and the "Brett Baggett special", one night at the Franklin Hotel, among others. There are costume prizes too. Click

CrossFit Games (and the Carolina Qualifier)

Everyone knows that CrossFit is competitive in nature, but you might not know that there are actually CrossFit competitions held across the globe. Every year the best of the best compete in the "
CrossFit Games" in Aromas, CA. However, in order to qualify for that competition you must advance through qualifying rounds. One of those qualifying rounds was held over spring break. We had Tanner Martin, Deepak, and Jason compete from the club. They all did a great job. Next year we may try to get an affiliate team together. Below is a video of the Carolina Sectionals and then a video that features Tanner (and his brother) at minute 1:55.
